Our autumn dinner takes place this Saturday, from 5-9 p.m., at the house and gardens of Lili and Miles. There will be covered outdoor seating, but please bring a blanket if you’d like to sit outside on the grass. The wonderful Ramblin’ Letters will be providing music. Beautiful weekend coming up — join us at the OCH Art Market between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday for a full slate of events, including the 2nd Annual Faubourg Lafayette Historic Home Tour, and musical performances by Kermit Ruffins and Irvin Mayfield on OC Haley Boulevard. The menu:

November Events

Next Saturday, 10/10, we’ll be serving food at the OCH Art Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Faubourg Lafayette Historic Home Tour takes place at the same time, along with the O. C. Haley Boulevard Main Street Festival. All three events are free and open to the public.

The following weekend, we’re be in Mid-City on Saturday evening, 11/17, for our autumn TSAI House event. We’re excited about returning to this wonderful home and garden, and the menu that we’re putting together.

After growing up in New York City, Haitian-American cellist, banjoist, and guitarist Leyla McCalla is now based in New Orleans. She has recently performed at Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival and the 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Currently touring with the Carolina Chocolate Drops, McCalla is also affiliated with Morgan O’Kane, Magnolia Beacon, and Sarah Quintana. Beyond being a musician, she is a composer, poet, and avid fan of Langston Hughes. McCalla has been compared to jazz singer and pianist Nina Simone and Haitian singer Emeline Michel.

One Year Anniversary at Rio Mar

Please mark your calendars for next Sunday, which is when Rio Mar restaurant is providing us use of their wonderful space and kitchen in the Warehouse District to celebrate the first year of TSAI. We will have a special menu inspired by our biggest hits from our previous events, a wonderful lineup of musicians from 5-9 p.m., and special drinks available at the bar.
